SOLAR PLATE ETCHING or intaglio is a non-toxic printmaking process making use of a photopolymer plate. A black and white positive may be created on a variety of materials (i.e. glass, prepared acetate, etc.) and then transferred to the plate through exposure to sunlight or ultra-violet light in the artist’s studio. After washing with tap water and hardening, plates are ready to ink and edition.
